My Fridge Isn’t Getting Cool?

In order to keep the entire refrigerator at optimum cold temperature, all refrigerator compartments require air flow. If an overloaded refrigerator does not circulate cool air, there is a chance that items in your refrigerator will block cold air openings. Boxes of food can block vents, preventing cold air from circulating through the fridge.

Clogged condenser coils produce poor air circulation and restrict the cooling of your refrigerators. Most refrigerators place their freezers in the freezer compartment to prevent the cold from escaping into the refrigerator or freezer area. When these vents are covered with wilting ice, food stored on the side of the fridge impedes the ability of your refrigerators to circulate cold air and keep it cool on the side of the fridge.

If condenser coils are dirty or dust accumulate, this can affect the ability of the refrigerators to do their job of keeping your food and beverages cold. You need to open the bottom or back of your refrigerator and wipe the coils to make sure they are able to produce maximum cold. If your refrigerator is not as cold as your freezer, the problem may be related to one of your refrigerator mechanisms that is not working as planned.

Your refrigerator has two fans that make up the majority of the appliance in operation, and if they are not working properly, there is a reason your refrigerator is not cold. The task of the fans is to keep the compressor and the condenser coils cool, but when the fans are broken, the refrigerator starts to heat up. Locate your condensing coil for your appliances if it is on the back or bottom of the refrigerator and use a brush to get rid of dust.

When the door does not work, it ensures that cool air flows into the refrigerator when it is needed to maintain the correct temperature. The evaporator fan is the part of the refrigerator that blows out the cool air you feel when you open the door. A small fan motor mounted on a series of coils (also called evaporators) that cool the interior of a refrigerator helps to draw air out of the coils and circulate it around the refrigerator and freezer compartment.

A thermistor sensor helps to communicate the temperature to the refrigerator controller, allowing the refrigerator to cool down if necessary. At room temperature, air is blown into the condenser coils, creating a cold air circuit in the refrigerator. This cold air also contains dust in the coils as condensate, which means that water collects on the surface of the cold coils.

The refrigerator control system keeps track of what is going on in your refrigerator or freezer and indicates different parts of the unit, such as the fan or compressor. If the circuit board does not work properly, the temperature is misinterpreted and the fans and other parts are not turned on as they should be to keep the refrigerator cool. You can check if one of the above causes a Whirlpool refrigerator to fail to cool properly, but if you have a faulty condenser fan motor, a faulty thermostat or some other partial failure, it is time to call an equipment technician for repair.
