One of the most common reasons refrigerators and freezers aren’t cold, and strangely enough this is a common problem, is due to dirty capacitor coils. While we still haven’t found the cause of your fridge not cooling down, there are a few other problems. There are several possible reasons why a fridge does not get cold: The fridge is hot or cold.

If everything is not frozen in the fridge and there is no freezing occurring, the fans are working or the control seems to be unlocked, it is likely that the problem was not caused by a problem with the air flow. If everything works and the fridge doesn’t cool down as it should, and you still get very high temperatures, you may have problems with the cold control. It may be that there are more items in your fridge, that your fans are not working as well as they should, in this case check the temperature controller. Do what we do when your fridge is not cooling: If the fan is working on your fridge and it is cooled down to the point where its compartment is still cool, check that all settings are correct.

Organize your fridge and make sure that nothing blocks the passages between the freezer and the fridge compartment. Remove any food that could block the airflow and prevent the refrigerator from cooling down. You can hear the fridge running and it barely stops running, but it’s still warm.

To keep your fridge at the right temperature, place a fridge thermometer in the fridge while it still feels warm. If the interior is warmer than the refrigerator, lower the temperature by a few degrees and wait for it to cool down.

If you find that your fridge has defrosting problems, remove the back of the freezer and cool it. If your freezer is covered in frost, you have a problem with thawing: The evaporator fan circulates cold air into the refrigerator without clogging up, but when it is covered by frost, it does not cool and your refrigerator does not cool down. Even if the compressor, evaporator and fan work as they should, the temperature of the refrigerator will continue to rise.

If you hear a clicking noise from the back of your fridge or freezer, the problem may be that the compressor overheats, does not get power properly or does not start. If the freezer fan is still running and the refrigerator is not cold, the compressor or its start-up relay is probably bad. Check for problems with the air flow and de-icing system when your cooling systems are running fan and compressor, but the fridge and freezer are not properly cooling and the freezer fan is still running.
