To fix a refrigerator with a French door that doesn’t make ice, make sure the ice maker is turned off. Straighten all kinks and avoid others by making sure the fridge does not push against the wall. Often the problem is that your ice maker is not working properly or that the water dispenser is not working properly.
Once you have found the water inlet valve, check that the screen or filter is clogged with dirt. Check the valve by disconnecting the refrigerator and turning off the valve and water supply. If you decide to replace the water valve, also check that no current is coming to the refrigerator.
You can also check if the problem is related to the water pipe connected to the back of your refrigerator. Check that the pipe is connected to the inlet valve and is not bent or twisted.
When it is time for the ice maker to fill with water, it sends a signal that the water inlet valve is open. Water flows out of the supply pipe and enters the ice maker through the valve. If there is a problem with the inlet valves and the ice makers do not get water from the water pipe, then all isn’t well.
If the solenoid valves fail, the water inlet valve does not open and the water doesn’t get to the ice maker. If the valve has enough pressure to get electricity, the ice makers do not fill up with water to make ice, so replace the valve.
If you find that your ice maker is not producing ice due to a blockage in the water pipe, this can happen for a number of reasons, the most common being that the ice gets stuck. Clogged water filters, leaks in water pipes or hoses or defective water intake valves can restrict the flow of water to the ice maker. In other cases, your ice maker may not be able to produce any ice due to insufficient water supply.
If you have small, warped ice cubes, this may be a sign that your water supply is low or that your filter is blocked or clogged. Ice cubes can block evaporator openings at the back of your fridge, causing ice to form on the walls and ceiling of your freezer. Air in the system can also cause drops from the dispenser and small hollow ice cubes.
The quickest way to solve this problem is to leave the refrigerator unconnected for at least two hours so that it can defrost. The more ice you experience, the more ice there will likely be and the more water will freeze on the line.
After restoring the power supply, listen to the sound of water beginning to refill the ice mold. When the ice collection container is filled with ice, the ice is lifted, the safety wire closes it, and the ice level in the container sinks. The water fills the valve, turns it off for a few seconds, then fills the mold again and the cycle repeats itself.
