My Freezer Is Making Strange Noises?

If your freezer is making weird noises, that might be a bit alarming. If you have an alarmingly loud fridge, or a fridge
making unusual noises, you are going to want to explore those causes. If you have not moved the refrigerator recently, it is
probably not causing the noise.

If loud fridge noise is coming from inside of your loud refrigerator, then your malfunctioning piece is likely to be the
evaporator fan that circulates air throughout your freezer and fridge.

Refrigerator compressor noise is a common complaint, but be sure that it is indeed the source of the noisy fridge. It is easy
to mistake it for condenser fan problems, since this is the same sound coming out the back of the fridge. If you notice that
there is a loud buzzing, creaking, or grinding sound coming from the back of your fridge, then a loud buzzing is most likely
a condenser fan.

Like a compressor, when a condenser fan is dirty, this may cause the fridge to produce unusually loud humming sounds as well.
If your fridges compressor is the one that is causing your humming noise, you are probably going to notice the hum is not
consistent, since it happens only when the compressor is running. If an unusual humming sound is caused by items being placed
too close to air vents, you may be able to open your fridge or freezer and determine the problem.

A bad condenser fan motor typically makes a grinding sound, but once you remove the back access panel, it should be easier to
identify the evaporator fan that is causing an unusual humming noise. If the sound returns once you shut the door, then the
refrigerators evaporator fan motor is probably to blame. If you hear a slight rattle while your fridge is running, open your
fridge doors, and are greeted with loud banging, the fan in your evaporator may be to blame.

This sound indicates your refrigerator is working the way it is supposed to, so if you are not hearing that sound, that is
actually a bigger issue. If you are able to hear the pop noise coming from your fridge a lot more often, that indicates that
there is an issue you need to address.

If you have hard items inside the refrigerator, such as glass jars, the vibrations caused by running a fridge can create
popping noises. Usually, if you move items around, or at least keep the shelves stationary, clattering will stop inside the
fridge. You can also hear a clattering noise if items are knocked down onto the fridge shelves.

If the noise happens while water is being pulled out of the fridge, or while the ice machine is being filled, this is the
most likely suspect. Another unusual sound, such as the Samsung fridge making an owl-like sound, may occur if your ice maker
is clogged.

Another reason why your Sub-Zero fridge makes noise could be the accumulation of ice in the freezer. If your refrigerators
fan evaporator is not working properly, you will notice your Sub-Zero fridges freezer making noises similar to loud buzzing.
Over time, your compressor may wear down or fail, which results in loud buzzing or buzzing. With time, bearings within a
condenser fan motor may wear and tear, leading to a loud refrigerator noise.

Another common problem is just from the force of the compressors motor. This can make items inside the fridge vibration, and
if poorly placed, can move plates, bowls, and other items, making popping noises.

If your refrigerator does not produce even a mild buzz, this is another sign your compressor may be damaged, affecting the
cooling capabilities of the refrigerator. A bad compressor might even produce a single loud bang when it starts to pump out
the refrigerant, sometimes repeating this noise as it is turned off. While a compressor may keep working when making these
sounds, failure may occur at any time, stopping all refrigeration functions.

One sound that you will want to never hear coming from your fridge is knocking, since this is most likely related to the
condenser failing or fan motor malfunctioning. The rattling sounds coming out of the fridge may seem frightening, although
they are easy to explain. If you have a fridge-freezer with a frost-free design, and you are hearing buzzing noises or
scuffing, this typically indicates that there is some ice building around one of the fans.

If the noises are coming from near a vent located between the freezer and fresh produce sections, it is likely a problem with
a fan or its motor. If you do not see any physical problems with the fan blades, the noise is probably coming from the motor.
An irritating rattle is just the sound of water being dripped out of a pan underneath your refrigerator, so there is nothing
to worry about. If your Samsung refrigerator is running loudly with continuous, grinding noises, it is possible that your
fridge is touching something behind it.
