There Is Water Leaking Out Of My Freezer?

It is the water that comes from the freezer compartment, it is the water that comes from the fresh produce compartment, it is coming from underneath the cooler, it is coming out of the back.

If you notice that there is a puddle of water forming directly in front of the fridge, or if you notice that there is water coming out of the fresh food compartment when you open it, then you are having an issue with your drainage lines. If your drain line has gotten clogged with debris, food, or other particles, that may be why the refrigerator is leaking. If your freezer has an ice maker or water dispenser, it is possible the water lines feeding it are clogged or frozen. If you have an ice maker, buildup of ice or an issue with your ice maker can also result in water spilling out of the fridge.

If the refrigerator and freezer are not having cooling issues, a blockage of ice in a drainage pipe is most likely what is causing the water to spill out of your refrigerator. Water Leaking From Your Freezer to Your Refrigerator Your refrigerator is likely being caused by ice accumulation causing defrost condensation to spill out of your refrigerator instead of into your drainage hose. Blockage occurs when food particles or other debris block your drain pipe, causing the buildup of ice and ultimately water to spill from the freezer into your refrigerator.

The drain line captures condensation from the freezer compartment and deposits it in the drainage tray under the fridge. The drain pan is responsible for taking the water out of the freezer and safely filtering it out into the outdoors. A cracked drain pan is underneath the fridge, and usually has water inside, so if it has any, do not worry about that if there is any when you take it out. Pull the fridge from the wall and find the drain pipe on the lower rear service panel.

The freezer water will flow down the conventional garden hose to a floor drainage pipe, and you can leave the hose where it is to provide an easy, one-stop solution to drainage whenever your freezer is defrosting. Squeeze hot water down into the drainage opening, or, alternatively, pour hot water down into the hose using a funnel. Once you have removed the drain plug, set up a pot underneath the drain plug to catch water, or if you are close to a drainage outlet, set up your cooler above it and allow water to flow.

If the issue is the water line, you can leave the water line connected, connect the refrigerator, and keep using the refrigerator normally, just not using the water and ice dispensers, until you can repair the lines. If the refrigerator is Level, and you have no obstructions on your drainage lines, but still see daily pools, then your problem may lie in the water supply line. You can look for the opening where the water is leaking, whether it is in the bottom of your freezer or fridge compartment, or you can find a drainage line within the fridge, or in the back of your fridge.

Pull your fridge away from the wall and search for the plastic pipe connecting the ice maker to your water filter. On many fridge models, the fridge has a waterline which provides water for the fridge for both a drinkable water supply and for ice. The fridge will naturally spill water, but this should collect in a pot underneath the fridge, where it can safely evaporate and not saturate the floor.

If your freezer keeps leaking, that water will erode almost every floor that is under it. A leaking fridge is not something you can afford to ignore, as any potential water damage will cost you far more money to fix the floor, among other things. If coolant cannot flow correctly, condensation will form and create pools under your refrigerator. If a refrigerator is fully horizontal, or tilts forward a little, water (from the condensation) might be unable to drain to the drain.

Water (from condensation) should run from the interior of the refrigerator into a drainage hole, and then to the drip pan below, where it will evaporate. When the coolant cannot easily circulate, it may pool up in a tube, forcing your fridge to work harder than necessary to dispense it; that generates additional condensation around the coils, which could eventually drip onto my kitchen floor, making my refrigerator appear leaking. If that drainage gets blocked, either from the accumulation of items in the freezer, or from debris blocking the lines, then the refrigerators condenser coils have to work overtime and begin to drip water.

The pipe that drains your refrigerator could easily become clogged by bits of food scraps and mud released from defrosting. Otherwise, it could affect how the water is draining out of the freezer, as well as the function of the door seal.

If your drainage pipe becomes clogged with whatever food particles you picked up during your journey, the water will pool over top of it until water starts to just drip out of the door. The tubing running across the back of the cooler can be accessed through the rear of the fresh produce compartment, and there is a small tray in the cooler, approximately 2-inches square, which captures the water dripping out of the freezer compartment.

When a freezer drainage pipe goes bad, this causes headaches with water, which may be difficult to locate. Something as simple as accumulations of ice, with a frozen drainage pipe, will result in water seeking escape somewhere else. We cut the water to our ice maker thinking it was the main issue, but my fridge is still leaking about 1/2 cup a day.
