A good rule of thumb is to keep a lot of food in the refrigerator to keep it cool, but don’t pack it so tightly that air can’t easily circulate from shelf to shelf. Frost build-up in the freezer can also block the air vent, reducing or preventing cold air from entering the refrigerator. If the refrigerator door is left open by mistake, cold air may escape and hot air may enter, which lowers the internal temperature of the refrigerator. Torn or loose door gaskets may cause cold air to leak, leaving the refrigerator warm.

Write down the temperature and then turn the refrigerator knob. Try again after two to five hours and see if your refrigerator has reached its optimal temperature.
