My Freezer Has Stopped Freezing?

To reset your freezers temperature, you need to locate the control panel. The thermostat controlling temperature sends a voltage to different parts of the freezer, and if it is not working properly, the freezer is not cooling. If the temperature control thermostat is inoperable, these systems will not receive any electricity, and this could be the reason why your freezer is not getting any colder. The purpose of a temperature control thermostat is to monitor your freezers temperature, then tell the control board how much electricity to send to the fan and the evaporator compressor to keep your freezer freezing.

If the evaporator fan motor fails, then your freezer cannot freeze your food because the circulating air will not get cold enough. If your freezer is packed to the brim, this could jam up your evaporator fan, preventing the proper air circulation from occurring. If you are packing the freezer to the brim, certain items might not get enough cold air and stay unfrozen.

This means that the freezer is not producing enough cold air to freeze freezer contents, but is producing enough cold air to chill the contents of the cooler part. Another common reason that you might believe that your freezer is working, but is not freezing, is that the contents are improperly packed. Using your freezer to chill warm items, or opening your freezer often, can impact the temperature inside.

If the coils of the evaporator are frozen, then necessary air cannot get past it, which may cause your freezer not to ice properly. If the coils of the freezer are dirty, it will not work properly. Dirty condenser coils are unable to distribute heat well, thus impacting your freezers cooling capability.

Over time, dust and dirt build up on the condenser coils, blocking the airflow from getting through properly, reducing the cooling capacity of your freezer. If coils become dirty, they are less efficient at wicking away heat, thereby greatly decreasing cooling capacity, and could be a cause for the freezer to not be cooling. As debris builds on condenser coils, your cooler becomes less effective, which makes your cooler work harder to cool.

A common reason why you will have problems with your Samsung refrigerator is the accumulation of ice on the Evaporator Coil. If the rear part of your freezer, which houses the evaporator coils, is very frosted, you may have issues defrosting.

The one exception to this is if your fridge has the evaporator coil inside of the freezer. In a fridge that has just one evaporator, the evaporator is located inside the freezer compartment. Open the freezer door, and find the condenser fan assembly (it is located in the rear of the freezer).

If the condenser fan unit has frozen, then defrost your freezer before turning it back on. If either the fan or motor powering the fan is defective, then your Fridaire freezer may not be freezing. Another reason why your Frigidaire freezer may not work correctly is if your thermostat for the temperature controls has stopped working. If you turn on your refrigerators door switch, but no fan is running, the culprit could be the malfunctioning fan motor in the evaporator.

To test for an evaporator fan motor, your freezer maintenance specialist will open the units doors and manipulate the door switches. You can test whether or not your refrigerators fan motor is a problem by opening the refrigerators door, and then activating the door switch manually. If you can hear the compressor motor running, but the freezer is not cooling at all, there may be an evaporator or condenser coil issue.

That is why, even though the compressor motor is running, your freezer is unable to maintain the freezing-cold temperatures necessary for food preservation. If the compressor is not running, the freezer cannot freeze your perishable items. The compressor produces, and then circulates, refrigerant through the freezer, so if the compressor becomes defective, then the freezer cannot freeze.

If your freezer is not getting any colder, a problem could be that your compressor has a bad starter relay. If your freezer makes loud noises, or has stopped freezing entirely, it is very likely there is a larger problem going on with one of the mechanical parts, like your compressor, condenser, or coils. If you are finding the temperature on your Samsung freezer is constantly rising, then it is possible the compressor and condenser coils are to blame.

If it is getting too hot, then you could have a freezer issue. If your environment is too cold, the freezer might not have enough running time to keep the temperature. If your freezer is placed in an area that is too warm or cold, the freezer must work harder to maintain its proper temperature, and this may lead to defects developing.

Another thing which may be causing the freezer not to function is the ice machine. Checking might seem basic, but a freezer packed to the gills can result in an airflow obstruction, especially if the fan in the evaporator is covered with tubs of ice cream or bags of vegetables. Another reason your freezer is running, but is not freezing, is because the evaporator fan is defective.

If you have overloaded shelves, try rearrange items in the freezer to promote greater airflow, and to maintain clean space around the evaporator fan. Pull items back away from a vent within the freezer, leaving space around items to allow air to reach all points within your freezer. The job of this freezer is to move the air through condenser coils and spread it out across your entire unit. Unlike a fan, the faulty compressor is the least likely culprit when you are experiencing problems; however, if your fan is working properly, but your freezer is not getting any cooler, then maybe it is time to consider replacing your compressor.
