My Ice Machine Isn’t Dispensing Cold Water Or Ice Cubes?

If nothing is coming from your ice machine, that could be because the ice actually is not there in the container. If you find that the ice dispenser is jammed, you will want to try and get rid of it.
Another place to check is in the ice tray itself, which also may get clogged with time. If this happens, take off the ice tray, wipe it down with a hand, and use hot water to get rid of any debris or ice.

You will also want to inspect the dispenser, if you do not see any ice pieces clearly visible in the container. Remove the bin, put a towel underneath the ice dispenser, and run hot water over the ice molds until any built-up ice shards are melting.

A bit of hot water (with the towel prepared for mopping) will melt any ice scum. Place the folded towel into the space where the ice outlet is located on the refrigerator door, and slowly run a gallon of hot water along the interior of the outlet while leaving the door open. Next, melt the ice by hand using something warm, such as a clothes dryer or a heat lamp, or pouring hot water over it, then wait for it to all melt. With a water pipe-cleaning kit, carefully refill your water pipe with warm water to help the ice melt.

To clean ice-covered water lines, you will have to melt ice from the inside. To fix the problem and quickly get your water line free of blockages, you are going to have to melt this ice.

If your water supply line is fine, and your fill pipe is not the culprit in the problem of the ice dispenser not dispensing, then your next step is to test your electrical connections. While you have access to the water intake valve and the water supply lines, it is good to check water pressure, which is also a common reason for ice maker problems. The water supply line leading into your cooler should first be checked for functionality. Water pressure can also be checked by watching how much water comes out after the water line is disconnected, or checking to see that at least 3/4 of a cup is filled when you push the water spigot button for ten seconds.

Depending on your refrigerators design, water pressure may be sufficient to provide water for your ice maker, but insufficient to provide water every time you attempt to take it out of the water dispenser. The fill pipe that supplies water to your fridges ice maker may be frozen, and this will result in water being unavailable for your ice maker. If your ice makers fill tube has frozen, it may be because you need more household water pressure to ensure that water flows into the ice maker, or there may be mud or defects in the water intake valve.

If the water inlet valve has adequate pressure and is receiving power, but the ice maker is not filling up with water to produce ice, then change the water inlet valve. The water inlet valve is the electrically controlled valve that opens to deliver water to the dispenser and the ice maker. These secondary valves usually provide greater control of individual water lines, such as one to an ice maker and one to the water dispenser. Depending on your refrigerators design, the individual water lines can run from a water filter to the ice maker to the water dispenser.

Your fridge has a single water line; however, the refrigerator has two plastic water lines running from a dual-hose valve to your fridges ice maker and the water dispenser. Water might not get to your built-in ice maker because of frozen lines, missing filters, or closed water valves. There could be a few reasons why your ice maker might not produce enough ice, including a lack of water pressure, or a crack in your water supply line.

Sometimes, when going to take the ice out of the freezer, you may notice that ice does not seem to come out, despite how long you have been pressing on the button. Just like with a trash can, your ice scoop is equally likely to get stuck as well, as you push on the lever to find no ice coming out. Usually, your first instinct when you push the lever and see that nothing is coming out is to open up your cooler and inspect the bin.

Clumsy ice in the bin may be your issue as well, so shake your receptacle. If you are finding your ice machine is not producing ice at all, it may be because there is blockage in your water line. Water line — This could occur for many reasons, but most commonly, it is because the ice has stuck in. You should be able to see if the dispenser tube is blocked; however, if the ice maker seems to be working, it is just not producing any ice, a blocked tube is likely responsible.

If your water filter is older, it may be clogged and prevent the ice maker from working correctly. With the filter removed, the water system will keep running, bypassing the filter, and the filter will not be the reason for slower water delivery or lower ice output. If the water or ice appears cloudy, this is a strong indicator the water filter needs replacing. Air in your water supply may cause drips in dispensers or small/hollow cubes of ice.

A clogged or improperly installed water filter will decrease the flow of water to the ice maker and dispenser, which can cause smaller ice cubes, lower ice output, or reduced flow of water. If you push your cup into the dispenser like normal, and — instead of getting ice — you hear a whirring sound for about 15 seconds, that means that the water valve is not getting the water needed to produce ice.
